How to Access the Online Family History Videos and Prepare Your Computer to View Them

These five online videos by Elder Uchtdorf and Elder Eyring are probably the fastest and most effective way for a new Family History Consultant or Priesthood Leader to get a correct vision of their calling and how they might become more effective.

We recommend watching these even before studying the manuals or Online tutorials.

Start your video access at http://www.lds.org/

Note: You can left click on any image to enlarge it. Then, after viewing, just click the back button to return to the tutorial.

Now move to the Family History Resource portal page by clicking on “Serving in the Church” and then “Family History.”

This is the portal page for accessing registration, tutorials, videos and many other Family History training resources.

Now select the video link.

The principles and procedures presented in the manuals and tutorials will be more meaningful to Consultants and Priesthood Leaders if the videos are viewed first.

Just above the list and description of the videos, there is a note inviting you to “click here,” which will take you to a free software update check.

There are several plug-ins that will make viewing these videos - and anything else you might access on LDS.org - work more smoothly.

It is a good idea to allow them to bring your computer up to the latest versions of the various software programs they are using.

Clicking on that link for Windows Media Player, version 9 or newer will take you to this “Plug-in” download page.

Click on the ICON at the bottom to make sure your computer has the latest version of the free “Windows Media Player.”

Time saver tip:

After you open or download the first video, you can save time on the subsequent video downloads by starting the opening process on the next video before you view the one before. That way, it will be downloaded and ready by the time you are ready to view it.
